Slow, mindful yoga uses breath, movement, gentle poses, and focused awareness to bring increased calm to your brain and body. Starting with the bodies we have right now, we breathe and move in a safe, supported way that builds our balance, strength, and flexibility, and gives us an opportunity to tune into our internal sensations. The result can be greater resilience, better sleep, clearer thinking, and even an increased sense of peace.
Kristine Kaoverii Weber, founder of Subtle Yoga, uses the term innercise to describe slow, mindful yoga - it's a complement to exercise, with different purposes than "fitness yoga" or other forms movement aimed at cardiovascular fitness. We're not "going slow until we can go faster." It's not the "beginning level until we can reach intermediate or advanced level." The goals of slow, mindful yoga are to build nervous system resilience and support brain health, in addition to building the strength, flexibility, and balance that will allow us to move through life feeling our best every day.

Until I considered yoga, I was always searching for the thing that would make me feel good in my body, mind, and soul. As I age, I want to embrace life and feel well every day.
